Just call me She-Ra, Princess of Power

I have discovered my very own “Sword of Protection.”  It’s not so much a sword, but an ability that protects me.  I can make myself believe anything I want.  Want to run a half marathon?  “I can run a half marathon… no prob”  (repeat).  Everyone say you have a hyperactive puppy?  “Oh, he’s just playful.  He lounges around the house the majority of the day when there aren’t visitors around” (repeat).  Stupid guy break your heart (or ego)?  “I never really liked him, anyway” (repeat, repeat, repeat). 

It’s an amazing ability, really.  It comes in handy at all the right times.  Take now, for example (names will be with held to avoid incriminating the guilty).  I received the following text message yesterday: “Are we still more then friends, or just friends?”  I considered the following facts: 1.  He just sent that over a text message.  At text!  Really?  2.  I’ve hardly seen him in the past month and 3.  Every time we have talked in the past month, it’s a different story as to why I haven’t seen him (I wanna talk about it, let’s be on a break, we don’t have to be on a break anymore, I’m busy with school, it’s more then just school, I still wanna talk about it sometimes, etc.)  All things considered, I replied “I don’t know, I don’t know how you’re feeling.”  He replied “I’m feeling fine.  It’s kinda hot in church right now, though…. blah, blah, blah…”  I think you’re getting the picture.  Time to drop it like it’s hot. 

I’m sure glad I have this super-hero ability to convince myself of whatever I want.  I’ll start believing that I really don’t care about it anytime now… “For the honor of Grayskull, She-Ra has the power!”
