I have so much to share with you, my faithful readers. And so little time it seems.  I’ll take this one day at a time.  First on the list, is an overdue story.  Remember when I told you my bff Aubrey was coming home from her glorious mission to Tampa, Florida?  You can read about it here.  I have failed to share the story of our 19 month reunion.  Well my friends, you are in for a treat!  Grab a bowl of popcorn and a Diet Coke (or whatever you beverage of choice might be), kick back, relax, and lend your ears.  Er, eyes.  This might be the most hilarious experience of my life to date.

Friday, December 19th, 2008 was the snowy, wet date my sweet, spunky Aubrey was scheduled to come home.  I wasn’t able to get out of work to go to the airport (crycrycry) so I headed over to her house, in my really cute grey and red plaid dress and red tights, after I got off.  When I got to her house, I walked up the steps and stood at the front door.  They have a glass door, which was shut, and the regular door was open about a foot and a half.  Everyone was in front room, including Aubrey, her whole family, the bishop of our home ward, and his daughter.  I crouched down and peered in the glass door to see if I could see Aub.  Her sister Hailey spotted me, gasped and smiled real wide.  The the bishop’s daughter looked over and saw me peering through the glass door and had about the same reaction as Hailey did.  I decided that was my cue.  All in one instant I decided I was going to swing the door open, run up to Aubrey, and give her the biggest bear hug I could possible muster.  Perfect entrance, no?  I pulled open the glass door and started my short sprint (there was about nine feet from the door to Aubrey).  Step right foot, step left foot… slipping… sliding… nooooooooo! The heel of the adorable shoe on my left foot slipped on the wood floor and I was propelled forward in Superman-like fashion.  …What just happened…?  I was supposed to be hugging Aubrey by now…  Is this the floor…?  Yup, there I was.  On the ground.  Completely stretched out on my face, in my dress, minus one shoe, with Aubrey about two feet out of reach.  EVERYONE went HYSTARICAL with laughter.  I wasn’t about to let this little slip up (haha… pun!) keep me from my bear hug goal.  So I army-crawl-scurried the short distance to Aubrey’s feet and delivered my bear hug to her ankles.  This made everyone laugh even harder (if it was at all possible).  Aub was laughing so hard she collapsed.  And there we were on the floor, gasping for air, like she was never gone.  She told me it was the best homecoming present she could have ever received.  I told her I planned it that way.

I have discovered my very own “Sword of Protection.”  It’s not so much a sword, but an ability that protects me.  I can make myself believe anything I want.  Want to run a half marathon?  “I can run a half marathon… no prob”  (repeat).  Everyone say you have a hyperactive puppy?  “Oh, he’s just playful.  He lounges around the house the majority of the day when there aren’t visitors around” (repeat).  Stupid guy break your heart?  “I never really liked him, anyway” (repeat, repeat, repeat).

It’s an amazing ability, really.  It comes in handy at all the right times.  Take now, for example (names will be with held to avoid incriminating the guilty).  I received the following text message yesterday: “Are we still more than friends, or just friends?”  I considered the following facts: 1.  He just sent that over a text message.  At text!  Really?  2.  I’ve hardly seen him in the past month and 3.  Every time we have talked in the past month, it’s a different story as to why I haven’t seen him (I wanna talk about it, let’s be on a break, we don’t have to be on a break anymore, I’m busy with school, it’s more than just school, I still wanna talk about it sometime, etc.)  All things considered, I replied “I don’t know, I don’t know how you’re feeling.”  He replied “I’m feeling fine.  It’s kinda hot in church right now, though…. blah, blah, blah…”  I think you’re getting the picture.  Time to drop it like it’s hot.

I’m sure glad I have this super-hero ability to convince myself of whatever I want.  I’ll start believing that I really don’t care about it anytime now… “For the honor of Grayskull, She-Ra has the power!”
