I just wrote and deleted an in-depth post.

Too personal.

Instead, wanna know what’s a curse?

A pretty smile.

spelling correction

Just for the record… I think the spelling of the word squirrel is ridiculous.

Two r’s and an el?

It looks like it should have two syllables, right?

I’m just sayin’.

Did that just happen? 2009, I mean. Like, the whole year.

Wow.

January: Spent zero dollars on clothing. That’s a fact.

February: Visited Michelle in Nebraska! Who would have ever thought I would visit Nebraska… not me. But it was awesome. Started Sweet Somethings with my momma.

March: Went to the Festival of Colors with Aub Bob. Won a photo shoot! Dressed up in 80’s garb and danced the night away.

April: Bought Screamin’ Mimi… aka my scooter. I love her.

May: Happy birthday to me! I got my adorable bicycle, Gigi. Ran my second ever half marathon. Bought my Nikon D60.

June: One word: Hawaii. I don’t even care about anything else that happened in June.

July: I love July. I love the 4th of July. I also love the 24th of July because I live in Utah. July holidays = Bliss.

August: Hong Kong. Macau. Bangkok, Thailand. Epic adventures.

September: Started a photography class, chopped my hair. I love both.

October: Took lots of pictures. Dressed up as a bumble bee.

November: Turkey, mashed, stuffed, etc. Times two.

December: Said good-bye to Elder Nash. Hello house fire. Christmas. New Year’s Eve.

If you’re lucky I’ll post about how I did on my goals for 2009 and fill you in on my goals for 2010. But only if you’re lucky.

Love you all!

xoxo Cambria

Christmas of 2009 is a Christmas to remember. Forever.

Why, you ask?

Is it because…?

  • I spent Christmas in a hotel
  • I received perfect gifts
  • Three days before Christmas, our furnace burst into flames (hence the hotel stay)
  • I worked on Christmas Eve for the first time in… ever maybe?
  • No Christmas morning scones
  • No reading of the Polar Express on Christmas Eve
  • There was snow!
  • I didn’t get any of my friends Christmas presents finished or delivered (fire)
  • My room (and the majority of the basement) flooded from a melted pipe from the fire
  • Did I mention I received perfect gifts for Christmas?
  • I made a tiny step towards mending a damaged relationship
  • Mom and I may have gone a little overboard on present giving for one of our favoritest families- it was fun!
  • Even though we weren’t home, Christmas was spent with family

None of these reasons, good or bad, are why this Christmas will be memorable this year. The reason really doesn’t have anything to do with Christmas itself.

Christmas will be memorable because I felt so much love! Yeah, my house caught on fire and flooded, but so many people have offered help in so many ways. A friend I don’t know very well offered her wardrobe since she was pregnant and couldn’t wear any of it anyway (she might not have gotten any of it back!). A friend who’s a pro-face at computers offered help with data recovery if we needed it. I can’t count how many friends offered a bed to sleep in, or a home to celebrate Christmas in. I received phone calls, texts, and messages on Facebook filled with concern, sympathy, encouragement and love. A very good friend of mine was one of the firemen who showed up at my house at 3:00 am, he took a second to give me a hug before he went into my smoke-filled house, and gave me another one before he left. My uncle got up in the middle of the night to just be with his sister, niece and nephew since my dad was hours away working. My aunt prepared some beds for us to sleep in, made us breakfast, and helped us get eight loads of laundry started. My cousin’s wife folded our laundry and even started ironing our clothes!

It’s the simple things.

The thoughts.

We didn’t lose much of anything in the incident, and we were very fortunate but that didn’t stop so many people offering whatever they could.

I’ve been blown away!

This is maybe the first Christmas ever I felt such a strong, honest, simple spirit of giving.

Thank you, everyone, for making 2009 the most memorable Christmas ever.
